Dhokla Recipe






Dhokla is a one of the most loved Gujarati cuisines in India. The easy-to-make snack can be prepared anythime and usually tastes best with pan-fried green chillies with sprinkled salt. Its a quickly prepared dish which requiress ingredients which can be easily found in any Indian kitchen.

Here is an easy recipe to prepare soft, spongy and fluffy Dhokla which tastes wonderful.
 So let's get started.


Ingredients


(For 4 servings)

  • 2 cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Refined Oil
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • Water
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 30 Curry Leaves
  • Some Green Chillies and Coriander leaves

How To Make Dhokla



  • Step I -  Take 3 vessels. Two large and one medium sized.
  • Step II -  Take a large vessel . Add Gram Flour, curd, sugar, lemon juice and salt. Add water. Leave it aside for about half an hour for fermentation.
  • Step III - Take another large vessel. Add about 4 cups of water. Place a small cup or something which can act as a stand and place it in the center.
  • Step IV - Now add Baking Soda to the batter. Take the small vessel and coat its inside with some oil. Mix the batter well and transfer it to the smaller vessel coated with oil.
  • Step V - Now place this smaller vessel which contains the batter over the stand. Cover it. Now ignite medium flame and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes and it will be ready.
  • Step VI - Take a frying pan, add some oil and add green chillies, mustard seeds and coriander leaves and shallow fry for a few seconds. Turn off the flame. Add 1/2 cup of water and ignite the flame again. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Step VII - After the Dhokla is done and ready in a serving plate, pour the garnishing prepared over it.

         Now our Dhokla is all done and ready to be served.


Tips To Make Moist Dhokla

  • Beat the batter for a few seconds so that air gets into it. It will make Dhokla Fluffy and spongy.
  • If the froth appears, do not whish anymore.
  • Pre heat the vessel for 3-4 mintues otherwise it will take longer than usual to cook.
  • Use fresh baking soda.
